                    TRIO SMASH DROUIN COURSE RECORD

Chris Harrison (Drouin & District Community Bank Manager), James Mclean, Daniel Hyndman, & Craig Scott

After posting equal course record rounds of 66, Daniel Hyndman, James Mclean and Craig Scott tied for victory in the $10,000 Drouin & District Community Bank Pro Am held last Tuesday. For the first time since the events inception six years ago, play was held on the Michael Scott course (holes 10 to 27). It was many of the players first look at Drouin's old back nine and they were full of praise for both the layout and course condition.

It was the second victory for Warragul professional Hyndman at the Drouin Pro Am, having tasted success in 2007. He now holds course records on 2 out of the 3 layouts at Drouin. Both Mclean and Scott are seasoned pro's who have had success on overseas tours and like Hyndam are regular winners on the Australian Pro Am circuit.

Conditions were fine for most of the day although the afternoon field did have to contend with some changing wind conditions.  Tied for fourth were Adam Fraser 67, Martin Doyle 67 and Josh Younger 67. Then followed Michael Choi 68, James Hartley 68 and Euan Walters 68.

Drouin Golf & Country Club President John White thanked the many sponsors and volunteers for making the day possible. Without their support, in particular major sponsor the Drouin & District Community Bank, this event could not take place.

The Pakenham Bypass enables golfers to arrive at the course in 30 minutes drive from Berwick and less than 1 hour from Melbourne's CBD.

Course improvements over the past five year have included the upgrade of fairways to santa ana couch grass as well as the construction of a 30 megalitre irrigation dam.

From the wide open links to narrow tree lined fairways, each hole at Drouin presents a different challenge. Drouin has regularly been described by visiting professional's as one of the best course layouts anywhere in country Victoria.

The gently undulating landscape enables easy relaxed walking for all ages.

Full Membership is only $510.00 per year or $45.80 per month via our convenient direct debit option. Pro rata rates and introductory offers are available to new members. Club Manager Danny Shine would be delighted to discuss these with you or even organise a course tour.

Drouin has a reputation for friendly members who always extend a warm welcome.
