MEN

Sunday 23rd November, Gerry Butler Plate

On Sunday Drouin held our annual Gerry Butler Plate event. Twenty teams of four from around Gippsland were in attendance and we were fortunate enough to complete the event in fine conditions without a drop of rain. The team from Maffra were not so fortunate, heavy rain in their area meant roads were blocked and they were a late withdrawl.
Local knowledge and some excellent play saw a Drouin team win the plate for the time for some years. The winning team with a score of 115 points (best three count) were Stuart Low (43), Ron Nocentini (36), Jim Bransgrove (36) and Ken Cooper. This was an excellent score when you consider the nearest team (Traralgon) finished on 103.
Individual Results; A Grade winner Darry Shields (Traralgon) 35. B Grade winner P Chaplin (Yallourn) 35. C Grade winner Stuart Low (Drouin) 43. Scratch winner Reno Borg (Trafalgar) 80 on a count back. Balls down the line (all on 36) A Bowler, R Nocentini, T Gauci, Ray Leonard, Jim Bransgrove, Gary Kelly.

Saturday 22nd November, Stableford

Sixteen players braved the extremely wet conditions on Saturday. Probably all of those that finished their round deserved a trophy, but of course there can be only one winner. Craig Cottier (13) scored an impressive 39 points to win comfortably from runner up Harry Matthews 35. The CCR was 72.
