 A week before

  • Once you have separated and boxed everything you want to go to the new home, eliminate all items that are no longer needed. Ask family members if they are interested in them. If you wish, you can also donate them to institutions in need.
  • Write down the measurements of your new home to ensure the entry of furniture movers and appliances.
  • Make a "clean" in the pantry, dispose of the food that has expired so that they do not take up space in the move and in your new home.
  • Start using frozen foods from the freezer.
  • Create a folder for all the documents you have.
  • Clean up the new house, or hire someone to do it.
  • Cancel all services and utilities in your old home and have them installed in your new home.
  • If you have small children, or pets, arrange for a person to look after you on the day of the move.
  • Provide the person in charge of the move with a plan of the new property, so that he knows where each room is when he arrives with the move.
  • Set aside towels and bedding for the first few days in the new home.
  • Contact the post office and redirect your mail to your new home.

3-day period before moving

  • Provide a large amount of cleaning products and materials as you will need to clean everything on the day of the furniture movers.
